If you have been following me for some time, you know how important I think it is that (along with the digitals if you wish), you get some beautiful printed products of your images. One of my favourite things to do whenever I’m visiting my grandmother’s house since I was a little girl is to go through the albums and boxes of all photographs. A lot of people I’ve never even known… but those images captured a slice of their lives and I’m fascinated with that.

Having something printed on paper sometimes seems like magic to me. The images get an extra depth (apart from the 3rd dimension), you can touch them (hell, even smell them!) and treasure them for a long long time.

It happens too many times that customers think they are actually better off with the digitals – you can just have everything on a USB stick and get them printed a lot cheaper than what it would have been if you buy the products through the photographer, right?

Wrong.

Chances are, you are never going to get it done.

You get home with your pretty USB, with the precious images, soo excited to show everyone…!
You might even get all the family together to play a slideshow on the telly…

But then… life happens.
You need to bathe the kids, feed the kids, get them to school… you need to take the dog to the vet…, next weekend you are visiting granny in Devon… then there is that foodie festival we wanted to go to…

… and your beautiful images are still sitting on the USB stick in your desk drawer. And slowly, day by day, you are going to forget about them.

And who knows? Technology is changing so quickly, in a couple of years you might not even be able to read the USB stick. Remember when we used to save everything on floppy disks? Then the smaller floppy disks? Then CD’s and DVD’s…? And all of these within what…? A 15-20 year timeframe?
And I haven’t even mentioned the unreliable nature of those digital files and storage solutions! I’m sure you have heard horror stories about failed hard drives and corrupt files…

Whereas professionally printed, archival quality printed photographs have been around for over a 100 years. Do you still think that’s not a better investment?

Please, please, please let me take away all this pressure for you.

It would mean the world to me to know that your images will live on for generations and generations to treasure.
